PROJECT PORRIDGE
Making A Difference In Our World
WHY?
Project Porridge was established after we identified a real need - malnutrition in children from 0-5 years of age. With our founders, leaders and health professionals living in Uganda, financial support from people like you, and by the grace of God, we are empowered to pursue our mission of helping mothers and children. |
Mission
To equip and empower mothers to provide healthier, happier lives for their children
To equip and empower mothers to provide healthier, happier lives for their children
- Provide a protein-enriched food source
- Encourage mothers in their journey together
- Equip mothers through education and the creation of a co-op garden
- Empower mothers to make a difference in their community
Our Vision is Sustainable
We want to create a better life for women and children in Kamwenge, Uganda.
By building on the success of Project Porridge Rwanda from 2005-2012 and establishing those same strategic goals, we have a firm foundation to build and grow Project Porridge in Uganda. In 2017, Project Porridge joined with a small, private Christian school in the village of Kamwenge where we began serving porridge twice daily to local children. Prince of Peace School is now conveniently located on the property owned by our ministry partners, Geoffrey and Mary Rwubusisi, who oversee the day-to-day operations of the school and the Project Porridge ministry.

Prince of Peace Nursery and Primary School
In addition to providing protein-enriched porridge on a daily basis to 120 children, ages 3-10, Faith Missions provides financial support integral to the functioning, safety, and cleanliness of the school itself. With the installation of a well in 2018, the school now has free access to clean, running water. The building itself was renovated inside and out, with the addition of latrines and sinks. A playground with four pieces of playground equipment provides exercise and enjoyment during the school day. Parents are encouraged to attend seminars led by our ministry partners in coordination with community health and social workers. Mary and Geoffrey come alongside these families in practical ways, providing not only critical training in nutrition and safety, but addressing family values, and building friendships along the way. |
